Biography
About Trevor Jones
Painting remains central to Trevor Jones’s Bitcoin art practice, which began taking shape in late 2017 after he became interested in Bitcoin earlier that year. His first related body of paintings became the 2018 "Crypto Disruption" exhibition. Among them was "The Architect – Satoshi Nakamoto," a 101 × 101 cm oil painting that became the first artwork Jones sold for Bitcoin.
"The Bitcoin Angel (The Ecstasy)," also completed in 2018, uses oil and microcrystalline wax on canvas and adapts imagery from Bernini’s "The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa." The angel became a recurring figure in Jones’s work. In 2020, "Bitcoin Bull" combined oil, wax, sand, and the Bitcoin white paper on a 140 × 140 cm canvas, drawing on Picasso’s Cubist compositions. Jones has also produced museum-quality fine art prints of both works.
In 2024, Jones extended "The Bitcoin Angel" into sculpture. An edition of 21 figures was cast in bronze by Beltane Studios in the Scottish Borders. Each sculpture stands 41 cm tall, weighs approximately 6.6 kg, and is presented in a custom oak display case.
