About Kialara
Founded by Maxfield Mellenbruch in 2014, Kialara is a Bitcoin art project built around meticulously constructed objects that combine sculptural design with secure Bitcoin storage. The debut "2014 Original 0.1BTC" established a format based on layered construction, tamper-resistant hardware, polished metal, and integrated public and private key elements.
Later releases expanded the project’s material vocabulary. "To the Moon" combines stainless steel, mineral glass, one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, 24k Gold Select, and a fragment of NWA 5000 lunar meteorite. "Hydra" pairs fine silver and mirror-finished stainless steel with mineral glass and gemstone embellishments, while "Builders" incorporates sterling silver, white gold, mining hardware, Australian opal, gemstones, and monocrystalline silicon in labor-intensive layered assemblies.
Kialara has also collaborated with artists including Ricky Allman, Julia Tourianski, and cryptograffiti. Across these editions, precision machining, hand finishing, precious materials, and unusual components turn Bitcoin storage into collectible sculptural objects designed to be handled, displayed, and preserved.
