Kenneth Burris

Kenneth Burris creates Bitcoin art in oil paint, using landscape to interpret verified Bitcoin block data and technological systems. A New York-based artist and oil painter for more than thirty years, Burris works with drawing, spatial modeling, and painting as part of a process that ultimately results in hand-painted works on canvas.

His "Data Becoming Form" series begins with verified data from Bitcoin blocks, which Burris translates into constructed landscapes. Paintings in the series include "210000," "840000," and "960039," each executed in oil on canvas. Rather than reproducing his preliminary studies directly, Burris reinterprets them during the painting process through color, texture, omission, and revision.

Burris has exhibited in Bitcoin-focused settings, including the Bitcoin Art Gallery in Nashville in 2022 and Adopting BTC in San Salvador in 2024. His broader exhibition record includes the Queens Museum of Art, North Dakota Museum of Art, and Hearst Gallery. Across his practice, oil painting provides the final physical form for ideas developed from data, landscape, and constructed systems.
