“Daddy, What did you do during the monetary revolution?” – Bitcoin Art Magazine Edition
by Yonat Vaks

We recently added a Limited Edition print section to our shop, where we are offering signed and numbered prints by our featured artists.

Our first print was “Exit Fiat, Enter Bitcoin” by Asanoha, and we recently added two wonderful pieces by Yonat Vaks. Here she describes each one:

“Daddy, What did you do during the monetary revolution?” – Bitcoin Art Magazine Edition, Limited Edition of 21

67 cm x 37 cm
Archival Giclée Fine Art Print on Baryta Rag 310, OBA free paper with a satin Baryta surface and natural white base, 100% cotton.

Memes are the art of the internet and have played a pivotal role in Bitcoin adoption. In the spirit of memes, this painting rides on the meme of the WWI recruitment poster that has become well known in Bitcoin circles. The original is a poster by Savile Lumley from the British Parliamentary Recruiting Committee showing a pensive man with his daughter on his lap and a boy playing with toy soldiers at his feet. The poster asks: ‘Daddy, what did you do in the great war?’ The poster was designed and printed by Johnson, Riddle & Co., Ltd., London, S.E., c. 1915

The first version of this piece was painted for the one-of-a-kind Bitcoin history book by Smashtoshi, BIT.. (and) portrayed the story of Hal Finney’s invention – Reusable Proof-of-Work. RPOW was a significant early step in the history of digital cash and was a precursor to Bitcoin.

The piece available here is a meme of a meme of the original poster, now featuring Bitcoin Art Magazine and Bitcoin Trading Cards.

“Yo Mama So F(I)AT” by Yonat Vaks

“Yo Mama So F(I)AT”, Limited Edition of 21

67 cm x 49 cm
Giclée Fine Art Print, enhanced with hand painted acrylic paint brush strokes on Hahnemühle William Turner traditional mould-made watercolor paper, 100% cotton.

This is a limited edition print of the fifth painting in the series – ´They Say Bitcoin is a Joke, but we’ll see who gets the last laugh..´

Bitcoin FUDers have often referred to Bitcoin as being a joke, unworthy of attention. In the spirit of meme culture, these paintings use that statement as leverage. Each painting is a known joke, brought to life with Bitcoin animal memes.

“Yo Mama So F(I)AT” is both a play on a known joke format and a commentary on inflation caused by central banks.  The ‘All you can print buffet’ is the favorite restaurant of the big bankers and Yo Mama represents all central banks, wearing their symbols as her necklace.
