About Petek
Petek's Bitcoin art combines acrylic painting, collage, and hand-modified fine art prints with materials including 24ct gold, palladium, silver leaf, minerals, meteorite fragments, certified Moon dust, and banknotes. Her work focuses on money, energy, data, and science, translating financial models and monetary history into layered physical compositions.
"Genesis" was commissioned by PlanB in September 2019 and completed around nine months later, shortly before Bitcoin's third halving in May 2020. The 120 x 120 cm painting pays homage to PlanB's stock-to-flow models, while the later "Dawn of Freedom" continues that series with additional Bitcoin data points and precious-metal details. Petek's limited editions are often hand modified, with gold, palladium, platinum, or silver leaf applied individually to museum-quality giclée prints.
Other works broaden the material language. "In The Throws of The Current Seas" incorporates international banknotes, metallic inks, and Moon dust, while "Soft Money on a Hard Fork" uses deconstructed U.S. dollar imagery and hand-applied silver leaf. Across these works, Petek uses scarce and unusual materials to connect Bitcoin with questions of money, scarcity, data, and value.
