Pepelangelo

Pepelangelo is a Bitcoin artist whose practice centers on oil painting, with Pepe the Frog recast through classical compositions, historical imagery, portraiture, and familiar works from art history. The artist, Olga Vishnevskaya, has painted Pepe in oil on canvas since 2016 and works full time from Georgia.

Original paintings form the core of the practice, while selected images are also produced as varnished canvas prints finished by hand with additional oil paint. Works such as "The Pepe of Wall Street," "American Pepe Gothic," "The Persistence of Memory Pepe," and "Pepe Washington Crossing the Delaware" adapt recognizable compositions into the artist’s recurring Pepe vocabulary. Pepelangelo also works beyond painting, including ceramics and sculpture.

The artist has exhibited within the Bitcoin art community at the Bitcoin Conference Art Gallery in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Physical works presented through these exhibitions and associated auctions include the original oil painting "Pepe Paper Boys," "Pepe Basquiat," the oil painting "Schnapepes Lady," and the tinted plaster sculpture "Unwilted." Across these formats, Pepelangelo maintains a practice built around oil painting, hand finishing, and the translation of internet meme culture into tangible fine art objects.
