About Frédéric Guimont

Frédéric Guimont creates Bitcoin art through comic-book illustration and sequential storytelling, centered on his independent superhero project "Ratel." Created in December 2022, the series follows a modern-day Robin Hood figure who emerges from prison with a Bitcoin war chest and a determination to confront the banking system. The name Ratel is French for honey badger, linking the character to a symbol long associated with Bitcoin.

A French Canadian artist born in Germany, Guimont learned to draw from books and has worked across comics, illustration, interface design, and projects connected to hacker culture. Earlier work includes "Candy Apple Black," an adaptation of chapters from George Orwell’s "1984," along with designs for events including H.O.P.E., RECON, and HackFest.

"Ratel" brings these interests together in a printed comic format built from penciling, inking, coloring, covers, pinups, and sequential pages. Through superhero storytelling, Frédéric Guimont examines monetary power, personal sovereignty, and Bitcoin as an alternative to centralized financial control.
