A13MW

A13MW, also known as Another 13 Moon Woman, is a Bitcoin artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, printmaking, and animation. Developed across four decades, her work is heavily informed by media, culture, and technology, with text and imagery shaped by her studies in iconology and her background in Social Information Architecture and meaning making. She describes her development from a “regular” artist into a Bitcoin artist as part of a broader journey toward becoming a sovereign artist.

Her interest in technology reaches from the early cyberpunk era through the internet, social media, artificial intelligence, privacy, and encryption, which she has followed since 2000. Alongside these technological interests, A13MW has explored Buddhist, Rastafarian, and Indigenous traditions, drawing from these experiences as reference points within a practice focused on the people, concepts, and cultural effects surrounding Bitcoin.

Animation is an important extension of this work. Through Deep Beauty Animation Studio, A13MW creates hand-drawn, frame-by-frame films centered on original characters including Buzzbee, the African Bitcoin Queen, who has appeared in her portfolio since 2000. Her short HODL/HODL was shown at the Bitcoin Film Festival in Warsaw in 2025, while Crying Baby, Dancing Bee continues an animated series exploring money, nature, community, human behavior, and Bitcoin through character-driven storytelling.
