FEATURED ARTWORKS

TIMECHAIN 1 by CRYPTOGRAFFITI

In the Artist’s words…

“Timechain is a series of three works created from numerous repurposed fiat currencies.  While Timechain 1 & 2 sit atop wood panels, #3 is unique.

Beneath the artwork a series of indentations corresponding with a 24 word seed phrase have been etched into a stainless steel plate.  The phrase accesses 1 BTC, yet is buried under primer, paint, the fiat currency and lastly, a coat of resin.  Should the owner lose faith in Bitcoin, my career or have some other rationale for needing access to the funds, they may do so by destroying the artwork.

However if they remain patient, the owner can preserve both the artwork and the bitcoin as every year on Oct. 30th, I will reveal one word from the seed phrase to them. The first word "model" has been revealed publicly.”

“Blockplate customized an 18×36" version of their stainless steel product to serve not only as the artwork’s backing but as storage for 1 BTC.

After receiving the plate, I punched a series of indentations corresponding with a 24 word seed phrase which will recover the BTC.”

“These markings were then buried under primer, paint, the fiat currency and lastly a coat of resin.”

It will be amazing to watch as the years go by to see how this plays out, and if the owner holds the work for the full 24 years.

ARTIST QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“Art has the ability to distill complex subject matter into something more people can understand.  This is especially important with Bitcoin as those who stand to benefit from it the most are likely to learn about it the latest. ”
